So, it’s not just me wondering how to dress for outdoor dining (jacket or sweater? Long sleeves and vest? Short sleeves under a cashmere poncho?)! It’s hard enough not wearing foundation, blush, or lip gloss since March … I only “make up” my eyes these days, including serious under-eye concealer, of course! Have never needed my Rodan + Fields Lash Boost more than I do these days!
But now we’ve got more to add to just the cosmetics drama. These crisp fall days turning into cooler wintery ones create another dilemma … how to stay warm without looking like the Michelin man in layers of puffy jackets. The only sure solution, I’ve found? A commercial-grade heat lamp, ladies!
But heat lamp or not, the main rule of thumb today is lots of layers, and don’t skimp on the flair! Ruth La Ferla reports on the flights of fashion finery that girlfriends are obsessing over at themoment when dressing up for a night of outdoor entertaining. Dawnn Karen, one of the ladies included in the article, calls it “dressing in italics” … I might call it “dressing with exclamation points!” The point is that in these times, when we’re faced with the weariness of quarantine and yearning for “normal,” a mood lift can indeed come from getting dressed up and making a party out of something as simple as a socially-distanced small group outing.
Whether it’s your knee-high couture boots, or your vintage consignment store faux fur coat, it’s time to dig out your “over the top” fashion favorites and create a party pizzazz moment!
Check out the ladies’ finery in Ruth’s article … from a ruffled pink coat with a crystal-fringed mask to a Zara leather jacket and a swirly red dress, you’ll love the way these gals sass up the night!
“The new outdoor entertaining requires a different kind of wardrobe, and fashion lovers are reveling in the shopportunity.”
